I honestly don't hate Twilight as vehemently as some people. What does make me irate is the fact that Twilight gets so much hype and gets a sequel movie made just because a bunch of 13 year olds have a crush on one of the actors. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that really are fans of the book, not RPatz, and that's fine and dandy for them. I however don't love the His Dark Materials because it makes me wet in the undies and dreamy over some shiny vampire man, I love it because it is a powerful, wildly beautiful, imaginative, wonderfully written piece of literature that BLOWS MY MIND. Also, I do take issue, as you will see, with the fact that the female characters of Twilight are so WEAK. Ok, ok, I haven't read more than a chapter of Twilight so I probably have no place to be judging it, but I'm going to purely out of JEALOUSLY. Also, I have seen the movie.
So, reasons why Twilight sucks in comparison to the His Dark Materials series:
-Edward is a vampire, Bella is a human. You might say they are from “different worlds.” Lyra and Will are literally from different worlds and can never be together unless they want to watch each other’s bodies and minds waste away, and bring about the end of the world. They will only be together in death.
-Twilight has a vampire/ werewolf rivalry. His Dark Materials has a human/God rivalry.
-In Twilight there is vampire fighting. His Dark Materials has epic battles between bears, humans, angels, witches, and soul sucking entities, called spectres.
-Bella has a child and becomes a mother. Lyra is the second EVE, the mother of all humans.
-Bella is constantly having to be rescued and is basically helpless. Lyra rescues an entire group of kidnapped children in the middle of the arctic, leads the vast world of the dead to a better place, and is the only person in the world who can intuitively read the alethiometer, a device which can measure truth.
-Edward has fangs. Will has a knife that can cut anything on earth, including the space between dimensions.
-In Twilight there are vampires and werewolves. In His Dark Materials there are armoured bears, gallivespians, angels, witches, mulefa, Gyptians, spectres, not to mention the animal-form soul of every human being, their daemons.
-Twilight takes place in the United States. His Dark Materials takes place Great Britain and the land of the dead. ‘Nuff said.
-Bella’s father is the chief of police. Lyra’s father is an adventurer, inventor, and oh yeah, he broke open the sky and found that it was possible to travel to other worlds.
-Bella’s mother follows her husband around whiles he plays baseball. Lyra’s mother is a sinister, highly intelligent temptress and one of the most powerful women in her world.
-Bella’s last name is Swan. Lyra’s last name is Silvertongue, given to her by the king of the armoured bears because she fooled and sweet talked another bear, and everyone knows that it is IMPOSSIBLE to deceive a panserbjørne. Did I mention that she’s only TWELVE!?
-In Twilight, vampires sparkle in the sunlight. In His Dark Materials, all sentient and intelligent beings sparkle because they attract the physical manifestation of Original Sin, commonly known as Dust.
Summary: In my opinion, Twilight is a shallow book full of people with petty problems. It is the fantasy equivalent of a soap opera. And I have nothing against soap operas, but I don’t think they deserve this kind of attention. So, in order to shut me up, someone please make an acceptable movie adaptation of the Subtle Knife and I’ll be happy forever.
If anyone has anything to add to my list, do share.

Bored. Thought.
Trying to make a resume when you have done so little to deserve to be hired is difficult.

This is the beginning...
I don't blog often.
I always do a New Years Blog, though, so I decided that I'd make one of these to do that and also to follow the blogs of mis amigos.
Yes I know that my NYB is almost 8 days late. I've been busy.
2008:
Holy smokes. Many, many changes. I said goodbye to so many people, places, and things. I'm sure there are so many things I could say but I don't have the words and it would be too touchy feely anyway.
New Years Resolution #1:
Use fewer commas. I love the little things. I also love using "...,however,..." Both of these practices need to stop.
New Years Resolution #2:
Listen to more music. By this I mean that I need to start trying out new bands. I feel a little stuck in 2006 because my music taste hasn't changed a whole lot since then. Seventy-five percent of the bands on Warped Tour this year I haven't heard of. I hardly know any of the bands in AP. There must be at least one good new band out there, right?
New Years Resolution #3:
Follow my passion!! In case any of you are wondering what this is, I'll tell you. I love animals, probably more than most other people do (And no, I don't mean like that). They are beyond fascinating and I'd gladly choose their company over people any day. I want to learn so much about them. I want to dedicate my life to helping them, saving them, and showing other people how to appreciate them.
New Years Resolution #4:
Be stronger, in my mind and body.
